Versatile Group is seeking an experienced Design Manager to take ownership of the design delivery for a landmark $200 million mixed-use development located on Sydney’s city fringe.This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing integrated property and construction business where you’ll have genuine influence over project outcomes and work across the full project lifecycle—from design development through to construction and completion.

About the Role
As Design Manager, you will lead and manage the design process for a major mixed-use development, ensuring all design documentation is coordinated, buildable, commercially sound, and delivered in line with programme objectives.You will work closely with consultants, subcontractors, project managers, and senior leadership to drive collaboration, resolve complex design challenges, and ensure design excellence across all stages of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design management process from concept through to completionManage design programmes, consultant deliverables, and documentationCoordinate architects, engineers, authorities, and specialist consultantsChair design coordination meetings and drive timely decision-makingReview design documentation for constructability, compliance, quality, and commercial outcomesManage RFIs, design changes, approvals, and consultant deliverablesIdentify and mitigate design risks throughout project deliveryDrive value engineering opportunities while maintaining design intentEnsure compliance with NCC, Australian Standards, and planning requirementsCollaborate closely with construction teams to ensure seamless design-to-delivery transition
About You
You will bring:
Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator in commercial constructionExperience delivering large-scale residential or mixed-use developmentsStrong understanding of design coordination, construction methodology, and consultant managementAbility to manage multiple stakeholders and influence project outcomesStrong knowledge of NCC, Australian Standards, and compliance frameworksExperience with Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam, AutoCAD (or similar platforms)Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
