About the Role

The Procurement & Contracts Officer is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the development, administration, and oversight of contracts and suppliers for Sydney Markets. Reporting to the Procurement and Commercial Manager this role works collaboratively to ensure that all contracted services meet the needs of key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities.

• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve value for money and support business objectives.

• Monitor market trends and identify sourcing and cost-saving opportunities.

Contract & Supplier Management

• Support the development, negotiation, execution, and administration of contracts.

• Monitor supplier performance and contractual compliance.

• Maintain procurement records, contract documentation, and supplier information.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure procurement activities comply with organisational policies, legal requirements, and best-practice procurement standards.

• Identify and mitigate procurement and supplier-related risks.

• Promote transparency, accountability, and probity across all procurement processes.

Stakeholder Support

• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand procurement requirements and deliver effective solutions.

• Support budgeting, reporting, audit activities, and process improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience managing procurement activities from sourcing through to contract execution.

• Experience coordinating tenders, bids, supplier evaluations, cost-benefit analyses, and budgeting activities.

• Strong understanding of procurement principles, contract management, negotiation practices, and supplier relationship management.

• Knowledge of procurement regulations, governance requirements, contract law, and industry best practices.

• Experience using procurement and tendering platforms.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis for reporting and decision-making.

• Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• A commitment to ethical procurement practices, probity, transparency, and risk management.
