Diagnostic Technician

Wangara MG is part of Regent Motors Group, a growing automotive company with dealerships across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

An exciting opportunity is available for a trade-qualified Diagnostic Technician to join our Service Department. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technician with strong diagnostic abilities, excellent technical knowledge and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.

• Perform engine, mechanical and electronic diagnostic testing

• Diagnose and repair complex vehicle faults

• Complete warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines

• Repair and replace components, including engines, transmissions and suspension systems

• Provide expert advice regarding the mechanical condition of vehicles

• Accurately record completed work using dealership systems

• Identify and order parts required for warranty and mechanical repairs

• Test-drive vehicles and conduct final assessments before returning them to customers

• Maintain current knowledge of the MG product range and relevant technical updates

• Provide guidance and training to apprentice technicians

• Ensure tools and specialized equipment are operated safely

• Maintain a safe, clean and professional working environment

• Deliver a high standard of service and workmanship

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant automotive trade qualifications

• Appropriate certification to work as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic in Western Australia

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities

• Sound knowledge of engines, transmissions, suspension systems and other vehicle components

• Previous post-trade experience in a similar role

• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• The ability to work productively and independently

• A positive attitude and strong work ethic

• Excellent attention to detail

• A current and valid driver’s license

• A customer-focused and team-oriented approach

Experience providing guidance and training to apprentice technicians will be highly regarded.
