Horizon Digital is a Perth-based custom software and AI consultancy. We build complex, high-impact digital solutions for enterprise clients across government, resources, and the private sector, and we do it fast, with agile delivery baked in from day one.
You'll join the Horizon Digital team and be embedded on site with one of our clients, a utilities company south of the river. These are practical, hands-on people who keep essential services running across the state, not a faceless corporate tower. The work is refreshingly grounded. Real improvements to the systems their teams use every single day, where what you ship actually gets used. The role kicks off with solid software development and is set to grow into AI implementation as the work matures.
We're looking for a Software Engineer to build and ship real features, write and test their own code, and help bring AI into the mix, working closely with our AI consultant guiding the direction.
What you'll be doing
Building and shipping features end to end across a Django and React stack on AWSWriting and testing your own code so changes stay safe and reliableWorking directly with client teams on site to understand and improve their processesTurning practical, real-world requirements into working softwareUsing AI tools like Claude Code to work faster and smarterGrowing into implementing AI capabilities as the engagement evolvesTalking plainly with non-technical teams and leaving the jargon at the door
What you'll bring
Mid level experience in software development, comfortable owning features end to endSolid Python and Django, with React on the front endHands-on experience with AWSA quality-first mindset. You write and test your own code, you don't just throw it over the fenceStrong communication. You can hold your own with practical, non-technical teamsHappy working on site and embedded with a client
Desirable
Familiarity with AI coding tools like Claude CodeExposure to implementing AI or automation in real workflowsBackground in utilities, energy, or other operational environmentsA self-starter who thrives with autonomy on site
