Choice Metering provides electricity and water metering services to the embedded network market.

We are seeking a Metering Data & Systems Analyst to join our technical and operational team.

This position works across meter data management, data quality, metering systems, commissioning support and customer data delivery. It will work closely with our existing specialists in metering design, deployment, commissioning and meter data services.

This is not a general data analyst position. Applicants must have practical experience working with metering data within the electricity, water, embedded network, energy retail or Meter Data Provider environment.

The role:

The successful candidate will develop broad expertise across the lifecycle of metering data — from the meter and communications infrastructure through to validation, analysis and delivery of consumption data to customers and billing systems.

Depending on your existing experience, your responsibilities will include:

•                          Processing, validating and analysing electricity and water meter data.

•                          Working with NEM12 and NEM13 data and associated meter data formats.

•                          Investigating missing data, data gaps, unusual consumption and data quality exceptions.

•                          Undertaking meter read reconciliation, validation and root-cause analysis.

•                          Supporting customer and retailer meter data delivery.

•                          Investigating meter, communications and data collection issues.

•                          Supporting meter commissioning, configuration and validation.

•                          Assisting with metering system and customer data integrations.

•                          Supporting technical metering design, equipment selection and deployment activities.

•                          Maintaining accurate metering, asset and customer data across business systems.

•                          Developing operational reports and analytics to improve data quality and business performance.

•                          Working with field technicians, contractors, customers, retailers and internal project teams to resolve metering and data issues.

What we are looking for

Essential:

•                          Demonstrated experience working with metering data in the utility or embedded network industry.

•                          Practical understanding of electricity and/or water metering.

•                          Experience investigating meter data quality, consumption or metering exceptions.

•                          Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

•                          Advanced Microsoft Excel capability.

•                          Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

•                          Ability to investigate an issue through to its underlying cause.

•                          Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in several of the following areas will be highly regarded:

•                          NEM12 and NEM13

•                          Meter Data Provider and/or Meter Provider operations

•                          Embedded networks

•                          Electricity or water metering

•                          Meter commissioning and validation

•                          Meter communications and remote data collection

•                          Meter Data File Formats

•                          NMIs, registers, Data Streams and meter configurations

•                          Retail or embedded network billing systems

•                          Data validation and estimation procedures

•                          SFTP or API-based data delivery

•                          Meter and Communications fault investigation and problem solving

•                          Power Query and Power BI

•                          SQL, data modelling or reporting automation

We do not expect applicants to have experience in every area listed above. We are looking for people who already have a sound metering-data foundation and can develop broader expertise across our systems and operations.
