About the role

We are seeking a Community Services Sector Trainer and Assessor to deliver high-quality, nationally recognised vocational education and training.

A core focus of the role is delivering the Certificate II in Community Services as a pathway to Certificate III programs, traineeships and employment. Depending on your qualifications and current industry experience, you may also deliver Certificate III qualifications in Community Services and/or Individual Support, including ageing and disability.

You will design, plan, deliver and assess training in accordance with regulatory standards, Training Package requirements and Tauondi policies. Delivery may take place in the classroom, online, in community settings or in the workplace.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Design, contextualise and deliver accredited community services training.
• Create culturally safe, inclusive and engaging learning experiences for Aboriginal learners.
• Develop compliant training and assessment strategies, session plans and assessment tools.
• Assess learner competency and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Monitor attendance, engagement and progress, using early intervention strategies where required.
• Work with Tauondi’s support team to address barriers to participation and contribute to individual learning plans.
• Prepare students for further study, traineeships and employment in community services, aged care and disability support.
• Maintain accurate training, assessment and attendance records.
• Participate in validation, moderation, audit preparation and continuous improvement activities.
• Build productive relationships with employers, service providers and other industry partners.
• Maintain current vocational knowledge and undertake ongoing professional development.

About you

You are an engaging and supportive educator with current community services industry knowledge and a strong commitment to culturally responsive training.

You will bring:

• At least two years of relevant, current experience in the community services sector.
• Demonstrated experience in vocational training and assessment.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• A sound understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities, protocols and practices.
• Knowledge of the VET sector, the Australian Qualifications Framework and RTO compliance requirements.
• Strong communication, organisation, relationship-building and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Confidence using Microsoft 365, online learning tools and learning management systems.
• A professional, ethical approach and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Experience delivering Certificate II or III Community Services or Certificate III Individual Support—and experience teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners—will be highly regarded.

Qualifications and checks

The position requires:

• TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or an equivalent qualification.
• A Certificate III or higher community services qualification, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
• A current Department of Human Services (SA) Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care training, or willingness to obtain it.
• A current South Australian driver’s licence.

A TAE traineeship pathway may be available for a suitable candidate.
