Assistant Accountant (Assets)

About The Role:

The Assistant Accountant (Assets) provides practical and responsive accounting support across Financial Services, with a strong focus on maintaining accurate financial information and supporting key reporting, compliance and asset accounting activities. In this role, you will assist with month-end and year-end processes, statutory reporting, reconciliations, grant acquittals, audit preparation, cash flow forecasting and fixed asset register maintenance.

You will work closely with the Financial Controller and Operations Lead and other Financial Services colleagues to prepare schedules, working papers and supporting analysis, maintain data integrity, apply established controls and provide timely finance support to internal stakeholders. About You: 

• You have experience in a finance, accounting or management accounting support role, including reconciliations, reporting, month-end, year-end, budgeting or forecasting activities.
• You are confident preparing accurate reconciliations, schedules, working papers and routine reports to support financial, statutory, audit and grant reporting requirements.
• You have sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review financial information, identify inconsistencies and escalate complex matters when required.
• You bring strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a busy finance environment.
• You communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with managers, colleagues and stakeholders, providing practical and customer-focused finance support.
• You are comfortable using finance systems, reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications to maintain data, prepare reports and support established financial processes.
• You hold a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems or a related discipline, or have made substantial progress towards a relevant qualification.
• Progress towards CPA/CA membership will be highly regarded.
• A current car licence is essential.

The Financial Services team are responsible for delivering an efficient and effective finance function for the organisation. Services include financial reporting, strategic management accounting, budgeting, long term financial planning and internal control. 

The Detail:

The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and is classified at Level 4, with a starting salary of $94,868.69 per annum + Super + Annual Leave Loading.
