Education Support Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, capable and collaborative Education Support Officer to join the Learning Enhancement Faculty at Sheldon College.

The role provides academic, classroom and pastoral support to students across Upper Primary and Secondary. Working closely with academic staff, you will work with students individually and in small groups, assist with classroom activities, support student progress and provide feedback to teachers.

You will also assist with classroom preparation, student supervision, excursions, sporting activities and other activities that support a positive and engaging learning environment.

This is a part-time position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.

About you

• Certificate IV in Education Support.
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Queensland Working with Children Blue Card, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
• Previous experience supporting students in an Upper Primary and Secondary school setting.
• Strong foundation of literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience with English as an Additional Language/Dialect students (desirable).
• Ability to create a safe, secure learning environment in which trust is fostered, individual differences are respected and valued, and students are encouraged to be risk-takers and self-directed learners.
• Strong team orientation with a willingness to contribute and collaborate in a team environment.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with colleagues and parents and partnerships within the wider community.
• High standards of personal integrity and professionalism.
