Working to the protect the state’s environment and heritage.
*This opportunity is limited to DCCEEW employees only
Our Conservation Programs, Heritage and Regulation team are seeking a highly organised and proactive Manager Operations to support the Office of the Deputy Secretary. In this role you’ll lead core operational functions — managing projects, reporting, governance, communications and executive coordination to strengthen delivery across a diverse and high‑impact portfolio.
As the Office of the Deputy Secretary relationship lead for Communications and Corporate Services, you’ll work closely with WHS, HR, Finance, Audit & Risk, IT and Records to solve issues, streamline processes and ensure the division receives seamless support. You’ll manage briefings, risk and compliance reporting, operational meetings and key CPHR projects, while providing trusted advice and reliable support to the Deputy Secretary and Executive Manager.
About You
You are an experienced project and operations leader with a strong background in delivering complex, high‑profile initiatives that achieve measurable outcomes in government or similarly regulated environments. With extensive knowledge of government protocols, strategic planning and policy development, you bring a disciplined approach to project governance, risk management and benefits realisation. Your expertise spans preparing business cases, managing multi‑layered stakeholder relationships and providing high‑level advice to senior executives on emerging issues, supported by your ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
As a people‑focused leader, you excel at building trust, navigating sensitive negotiations and fostering productive, collaborative working relationships across diverse groups. You demonstrate advanced communication, problem‑solving and project management capabilities, underpinned by integrity, resilience and sound judgement. You coach, motivate and guide small teams to deliver quality outcomes, while creating an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and encourages continuous improvement. Highly organised and adaptable, you manage competing priorities with confidence and ensure decisions are grounded in evidence, aligned to strategic objectives and delivered within time and resource constraints.
