Heritage Coordinator

The JYAC Heritage Coordinator is responsible for overseeing heritage surveys and monitoring activities across the Martu Determination - 150,000 square kilometres of exclusive possession native title in the East Pilbara of WA. The role will also manage various heritage related projects and collaborate with mining proponents, heritage consultants and Martu people to ensure that Martu Ngurra (Country) is cared for.

The JYAC Heritage Coordinator role

The JYAC Heritage Coordinator, reporting to the Heritage and Landscape Manager, coordinates the work and heritage resources to undertake, support and deliver the Annual Heritage Survey and Monitoring Program. This work helps Martu people stay healthy, supports families in building sustainable communities and livelihoods on and from their land, and ensures Martu culture remains strong.

The Martu Heritage Coordinator works with the Martu Nominators to ensure the right people for the right country are involved in the surveys and monitoring activities.  The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to build positive cross-cultural relationships, collaborate with mining and exploration proponents, and heritage consultants managing logistics and reporting requirements.  This role will also manage various heritage projects for JYAC.

We operate in a remote area of the East Pilbara in WA creating additional operational and logistical challenges. 

The role is based in Perth with some travel to the East Pilbara area.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS

The position salary range will be negotiated based on demonstrated qualifications and experience. 

Superannuation of 12%, 4 weeks annual leave plus 1 week paid end of year shutdown leave; salary packaging arrangements are available.
