Principal Power Systems Engineer

Role Summary:NES FIRCROFT are searching for an experienced power systems engineer to work with a global team of electricity experts within a leading consultancy, that have been tackling the most intricate problems for some of the most prominent industry stakeholders for over 20 years.The primary purpose of this role is to carry out projects across the generation, transmission and distribution sectors. The location of this role is in Melbourne or Sydney.
Responsibilities:Reporting to the Head of Grid, you will:Conduct and coordinate technical studies related to grid connection of renewable energy projectsAssist with PSCAD and PSS/E modelling according to 5.3.4 AEMO standardsEnhance personal competence in several specialised technical areas, such as power quality, electromagnetic transients, earthing and protectionHelp with deliverables, schedules and budgets for client projects and studiesServe as technical lead for consulting engagements within the Power Systems service offering.
Required Experience:Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering5-6+ years’ industry experience in power system analysis in generationFull legal working rights in AustraliaGood understanding of PSS/E and PSCAD network simulation software will be highly regarded along with using python scripting as a supporting tool.Ability to work to deadlines and exceed client expectationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
