Occupational Therapist - Senior

Permanent full time opportunity to provide high level Occupational Therapy services within the acute hospital setting at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH).

About the role

Permanent full time opportunity to apply high-level, independent, and evidence-informed clinical skills and practice models in the delivery of consumer centred Occupational Therapy services of a complex and varied nature.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

• Apply high-level judgement, professional relationship, and clinical management skills to a complex and varied clinical caseload. Act as a reference point for other members of the Occupational Therapy team to facilitate clinical problem solving and decision making. Reach out to other members of the interprofessional team as required according to the knowledge, ability and skill that best addresses patient needs.
• Initiate and lead clinical governance activities, such as the application of research and evidence in the development of policies, procedures and clinical practice guidelines. Take responsibility for assigned patient safety and quality portfolio/s, identify and report patient safety and quality and operational risks, apply clinical practice guidelines whilst leading clinical audit and related clinical service improvement activity.
• Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within specialist clinical service areas, and advocate for service improvements that enhance the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across the RBWH and wider MNHHS, utilising identification and application of guidelines and business improvement plans.
• Delegate to and provide guidance, clinical practice supervision and professional development support to less experienced staff, allied health assistants, students on work experience and tertiary students to develop and maintain clinical practice standards.
