In this role, you’ll:

Shape the future of the road network across outer metropolitan and regional NSW.

Lead a talented team responsible for integrated road network planning across outer metropolitan and regional NSW—helping communities remain connected and ensuring the network is safe, resilient and ready for future growth.

Building on the Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan program, you will translate regional priorities into practical road network plans, corridor strategies and investment pathways.

You will also help shape Transport’s response to some of the state’s most significant emerging challenges, including planning the transport network needed to support Renewable Energy Zones and the safe movement of oversize and overmass freight.

Working across Transport for NSW, government agencies, councils, industry and communities as well across borders, you will:

• Lead the development of  road network and corridor plans.

• Translate strategic priorities into clear, evidence-based planning and investment advice.

• Support the delivery of the NSW Renewable Energy Zones

• Balance growth, freight productivity, safety, resilience, community access and environmental outcomes.

• Guide multidisciplinary teams and build the capability of road network planners.

• Influence complex decisions across a large, matrixed organisation.

This is an opportunity to shape a growing program of work, strengthen how road network planning is undertaken across outer and regional NSW and contribute to decisions that will have a lasting impact on communities, industries and the state’s economic future.

The role does not need to be based in Sydney. We welcome applications from people living in outer metropolitan or regional NSW, with the opportunity to work from a suitable Transport for NSW workplace closer to the communities and networks

About you

You are a strategic and collaborative leader who can bring structure, direction and momentum to complex planning challenges.

You will bring experience from transport planning, infrastructure, regional planning, urban planning, engineering or government. You understand how to move from strategy to action, using evidence to identify network needs, establish priorities and provide clear advice on future investment.

You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities are evolving and where successful outcomes depend on collaboration across organisational and geographic boundaries.

You can balance different stakeholder perspectives, communicate complex issues clearly and build trusted relationships with executives, technical specialists, councils, government agencies, industry and communities.

Most importantly, you will be motivated by the opportunity to lead people, shape a developing program and deliver better long-term outcomes for outer metropolitan and regional NSW.
