The Opportunity 

We are looking for a Technical Lead – Ecommerce to lead the technical development, optimisation and evolution of Babyboo’s ecommerce ecosystem.

This role is responsible for translating business priorities into scalable technical solutions, ensuring our ecommerce platform delivers exceptional customer experiences while supporting rapid business growth. Working closely with the Senior Digital Experience Manager, you will own the technical execution of our ecommerce roadmap, leading development projects from concept through to deployment.

You will provide hands-on technical leadership across the ecommerce stack, guiding development standards, architecture decisions and best practices while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Crucially, you are a commercially minded technical leader who understands the impact technology has on customer experience, conversion and business performance.

You will 

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of ecommerce development projects, from technical scoping through to deployment and post-launch optimisation.
• Own the technical roadmap, partnering with internal stakeholders and external development agencies to deliver scalable digital solutions.
• Maintain and evolve the ecommerce platform architecture, ensuring performance, scalability and long-term stability.
• Drive website performance, conversion optimisation and customer experience improvements through continuous technical enhancements.
• Lead integrations across ecommerce, CRM, marketing, customer service, analytics and third-party platforms.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve system efficiency and support business growth through technology.
• Act as the technical ecommerce expert, collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring developers and external partners.
• Champion development best practices, code quality, platform security, governance and risk management.
• Monitor platform health, proactively resolve technical issues and continuously optimise website performance and reliability.

You are

• Established experience in Ecommerce Development, Web Development or Technical Product Delivery, ideally within Ecommerce, Retail or high-growth digital businesses.
• Proven experience leading technical delivery across ecommerce platforms and customer-facing digital experiences.
• Strong understanding of ecommerce architecture, integrations, APIs and platform ecosystems.
• Experience working with modern ecommerce platforms such as Shopify Plus and associated technologies.
• Strong knowledge of website performance optimisation, technical SEO fundamentals and conversion-focused development.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects from discovery through to deployment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical excellence with commercial outcomes.
• Experience managing agencies, contractors or development partners.
• A collaborative mindset with a passion for building exceptional digital experiences.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with multiple priorities.
