About the role

Are you an experienced clinical pharmacist and leader with a passion for mental health and a commitment to advancing patient-centred care? As our Advanced Clinical Practitioner Pharmacist – Mental Health, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering expert, specialised pharmacy services that improve the health and wellbeing of consumers across the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). This role has been developed alongside the recent expansion of the Margaret Tobin Centre at Flinders Medical Centre, involving a new Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will apply advanced clinical reasoning and extensive specialist knowledge to optimise the quality use of medicines, enhance consumer outcomes and champion safe, evidence-based practice. This is an exciting opportunity to influence care at both the individual and system level while making a meaningful difference in the lives of people experiencing mental health challenges.

In this, first of its kind in SALHN, Advanced Clinical Practitioner Pharmacist role, you will lead across the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership, education and research, while maintaining a specialised clinical caseload. You will provide leadership for pharmacy staff servicing patients within the Division of Mental Health across multiple sites, ensuring optimal clinical services, in collaboration with the pharmacy management team. You will mentor and support pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, contribute to service innovation, and help shape best practice through quality improvement, medication safety initiatives and strategic projects. Representing Pharmacy and the Local Health Network at state-wide and national forums, you will bring your expertise to drive continuous improvement and strengthen the capability of our workforce. About You

You are an experienced and forward-thinking pharmacist with advanced expertise in mental health, a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, and the ability to inspire those around you. You thrive in collaborative environments, embrace innovation and continuous improvement, and are committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for consumers, colleagues and the broader health service.

• Expert clinical capability – You hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent), are registered (or eligible for registration) with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, and bring extensive experience and advanced clinical expertise in mental health pharmacy, applying sound clinical judgement and independent decision-making in complex care settings.
• Leadership and collaboration – You are a confident clinical leader with experience mentoring and supervising staff, leading multidisciplinary teams, building strong stakeholder relationships, and driving service improvement through collaboration, education and change management.
• Quality improvement and innovation – You have a proven track record in quality improvement, research, policy development and evidence-based practice, with the ability to translate knowledge into meaningful improvements in patient care and pharmacy services.
• Communication and professionalism – You are an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal, negotiation and report-writing skills, committed to continuous professional development, workplace safety, and delivering high-quality, consumer-centred care in a dynamic healthcare environment.
