About the role

Clyde Accident Repair Centre is seeking a skilled and experienced Spray Painter to join our team on a full-time basis at our facility in Clyde North, VIC 3978. As a Spray Painter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality paint finishes to vehicles undergoing accident repair and restoration. This position is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring customer satisfaction with every vehicle that leaves our workshop.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing vehicle surfaces through sanding, priming and masking to achieve optimal paint adhesion and finish quality

• Mixing and applying paint coatings using spray techniques, ensuring colour matching and consistency across all applications

• Operating spray painting equipment and maintaining tools in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards

• Inspecting completed work to ensure finishes meet quality standards and identifying any areas requiring touch-ups or rework

• Following environmental and health and safety regulations, including proper ventilation, personal protective equipment usage and chemical handling procedures

• Documenting work completed and maintaining accurate records of materials used and time spent on each vehicle

• Collaborating with other workshop staff including panel beaters and detailers to ensure seamless workflow and timely job completion

• Staying current with industry best practices and new paint technologies to continuously improve finishing quality

What we're looking for

• Formal qualification or apprenticeship in spray painting or automotive refinishing

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a spray painter in an automotive repair or body shop environment

• Demonstrated expertise in surface preparation, paint mixing and application techniques

• Knowledge of colour matching systems and ability to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes

• Sound understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to spray painting and chemical handling

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering work that meets quality standards consistently

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment

• Valid driver's licence

• Experience with modern refinishing systems and water-based paint products is highly desirable
