Disability Support Worker

About the Company:

Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

The Role:

Our participant is a 43-year-old female who lives in Armidale NSW, she has a Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain Injury due to a motorbike accident. She also has Bipolar Disorder.

This role is on a casual, on-going basis and will commence ASAP.

A quick meet and greet with our participant will be required prior to commencement.

Requirements:

Due to the complexity of the participant, successful candidates must have prior experience working with complex care clients - which includes experience with or willing to learn:

• Personal care
• Bowel care (Peristeen Bowel Therapy - Training Provided)
• Skin checks (pressure injuries)
• Manual handling (hoisting)
• Domestic tasks
• Catheter care
• Meal Preparation
• Medication Administration

Current Roster:

Monday - Sunday AM Shifts

Staff 1: 7:00AM - 11:30AM (2:1 assist)

Staff 2: 8:00AM - 11:30AM (2:1 assist)


Monday- Sunday PM Shifts

Staff 1: 17:00-21:30 (2:1 assist)

Staff 2: 2030-2230 (2:1 assist)


Pay Rates

• Day Shift - $40.00 p/h
• Afternoon Shift - $44.00 p/h
• Saturday Shift - $56.00 p/h
• Sunday Shift - $72.00 p/h

Key Responsibilities:

• Personal care duties
• Assistance with bowel therapy (Peristeen - training will be provided)
• Hoisting/transfers
• Daily skin checks
• Catheter Management
• Pressure wound management
• Assistance with domestic tasks
• Assistance with meal preparation
• Assistance with daily Health & Rehab exercises
• Community access + rehab appointments

Skills & Experiences:

• Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or equivalent
• Experience with spinal cord injuries / brain injury or other high complex care participants
• Experience with catheter management or willing to learn
• Experience with bowel therapy OR willing to learn
• Experience with manual handling
• Australian Driver License & motor vehicle
• Current National Police Clearance (within 12 months of issue)
• Current Working with Children's Check
• First Aid & CPR Certificate
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
