About the Role

Finance Manager is responsible for leading the Foundation's finance function and ensuring the organisation maintains the highest standards of financial management, governance and compliance.

This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational responsibility. You'll work closely with the Leadership Team to provide financial insights, support informed decision-making and help position the organisation for sustainable growth.

You will also lead the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring our financial systems, payroll processes and reporting obligations are delivered accurately, efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Lead the Foundation's finance function, overseeing all financial operations, systems and controls.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, cash flow analysis and financial reports for the Leadership Team and Board.
• Provide strategic financial advice to support organisational planning, decision-making and long-term sustainability.
• Manage annual audits, statutory reporting, taxation obligations and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee grant budgeting, financial acquittals and reporting for government and philanthropic funding agreements.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve financial policies, business processes and internal controls.
• Monitor organisational performance against budget, identify financial risks and opportunities, and support effective governance.
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and month-end processing, ensuring compliance with Awards, Fair Work, superannuation and taxation legislation.
• Support funding applications and business initiatives through financial modelling, budgeting and reporting.

About You

You are an experienced finance professional who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery. You build trusted relationships, communicate financial information clearly and understand that behind every dollar is an opportunity to improve outcomes for the people we support.

You'll bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards completion).
• Significant experience managing finance within Not for Profit, Community Service or Workforce Australia.
• Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end financial operations using Xero, including payroll.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cash flow management.
• Experience preparing financial statements, Board reports and audit documentation.
• Knowledge of grant funding, acquittals and financial compliance within government-funded programs.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and employment obligations.
• High-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
• A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to simplify and strengthen business processes.
• Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Experience within the not-for-profit or community services sector will be highly regarded.
