Days & Hours of Work: Monday – Friday totalling 38 hours per week
Competitive Salary: Band 7 - $118,508 p.a + 12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

We’re seeking a collaborative Finance Business Partner to join our local government finance team. In this influential role, you’ll partner with leaders and budget owners across Council, providing clear financial advice, analysis and insights that support sound decisions, responsible use of public funds and positive outcomes for our community.

The ideal candidate will be CPA or CA qualified, with strong budgeting, forecasting and reporting skills, demonstrated experience administering accounting systems, and the ability to communicate complex financial information in a practical and engaging way. You will be responsible for:

• Business Partnering: Partnering with leaders and budget owners to support financial, budgeting and forecasting needs.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Supporting budget owners and the finance team to ensure the operating budget is prepared within guidelines and timeframes and monthly forecasts are completed and relevant.
• Internal reporting: Monthly divisional forecast and budget reports and analysis as required to support users in decision making.
• Systems accounting: Manage and administer the financial reporting system to ensure it correctly reflects Council’s financial position and is working efficiently as well as providing training and support for users.
• Financial Projects: Conduct Financial Projects as directed by the Coordinator Financial Services and Chief Financial Officer including financial feasibility and evaluations of existing and proposed projects.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

• Tertiary qualification in accounting/finance and CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants membership.
• Demonstrated 5+ years’ experience in Finance Business Partnering functions, including being a trusted advisor by providing analysis and assessment of complex financial information.
• Demonstrated proficiency in administering enterprise financial systems, reporting tools and advanced spreadsheets, with a strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders, prepare high quality reports and influence financially responsible decisions.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
