About the role
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager and based at our Coburg head office, you will develop, implement and oversee safety policies and procedures across all Embelton sites nationally.
You will be our go-to person for everything WHS: compliance, safety management systems, incident and WorkCover management, training, and safety reporting.
This is a practical, people-facing role. One day you might be running a toolbox talk or coordinating a site audit; the next you might be updating SWMS documentation, supporting a Return-to-Work plan, or helping our Contract Administrators prepare OHS documents for Principal Contractors.
You will have the autonomy to shape how safety is done at Embelton, with the support of an established management team behind you.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure national compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental legislation.
Maintain and improve OHS policies, procedures, SWMS and ISO certification documentation.
Coordinate workplace inspections, toolbox talks and site audits across all sites.
Manage workplace incidents, WorkCover claims and Return to Work programs.
Coordinate external compliance inspections including Test and Tag, fire systems and asbestos audits.
Deliver safety training and emergency preparedness programs, including Fire Warden training.
Maintain the Operator Licence Register and OHS/HR Master Document Register.
Report on safety performance data (LTI/MTI) for employees and subcontractors.
Assist Contract Administrators with OHS documentation for Principal Contractors and pre-qualification tenders.
Promote employee wellbeing initiatives across physical, mental and social health.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, ideally you will possess the following:
• A degree or formal qualification in OH&S / WHS, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience in a Work Health and Safety role.
• Experience within the manufacturing and/or building construction industry.
• Knowledge of Local, State and National WHS legislation and Industry Codes.
• Experience with safety management systems, risk assessment and incident investigation.
• Experience managing WorkCover claims and Return to Work programs.
• Clear, practical communication skills and the confidence to work autonomously.
