About the role

The Nurso is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team on a casual basis for 15 - 20 hours a week. This role is based in Chandler, Queensland, and offers the perfect opportunity for someone looking for flexible work in a dynamic hospitality environment. As a Cook, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining the standards of excellence our guests expect. This position plays a vital role in creating memorable dining experiences and upholding our commitment to culinary excellence.

What you'll be doing

1. Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and kitchen standards

2. Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage and handling of ingredients

3. Ensuring all meals are prepared to the correct temperature and presentation standards

4. Managing cooking stations and equipment efficiently and safely

5. Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods

6. Monitoring stock levels and reporting when supplies need replenishing

7. Following all plating and portioning guidelines to ensure consistency across dishes

8. Responding promptly to service requests and adapting to menu changes as required

9. Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workspace

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working as a Cook in a professional kitchen or hospitality establishment

2. Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and culinary standards

3. Strong understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices

4. Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times

5. Good communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with other kitchen staff

6. Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of kitchen work, including standing for extended periods

7. Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and service requirements

8. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality food presentation

9. Relevant hospitality or culinary qualifications or certifications (preferred)

10. Experience working in a similar hospitality setting or venue type (preferred)
