Tax Accountant – Public Practice

Coral Coast Financial Services is looking for an experienced Tax Accountant to join our growing accounting team in Cairns or Innisfail. This full-time role is ideally suited to an accountant with 3 to 5 years’ Australian public practice experience who is ready to take the next step in their career within a supportive, well-established local firm.

You will work with a broad range of individual, business, trust, company and SMSF clients, providing practical taxation and accounting support while being part of the wider Coral Coast group. The role offers strong client exposure, ongoing professional development and the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team that values quality advice and long-term client relationships.

What you’ll be doing

·         Preparing income tax returns, financial statements and other taxation documents for a range of clients

·         Assisting clients with practical tax planning, business advisory and compliance matters

·         Supporting SMSF administration, compliance and tax matters, working alongside our financial planning team where specialist advice is required

·         Identifying opportunities to improve clients’ financial management, reporting and compliance processes

·         Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation, accounting standards and regulatory requirements

·         Building strong client relationships through clear communication, reliability and high-quality service

What we’re looking for

·         Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field

·         3 to 5 years’ experience in Australian public practice, ideally across tax and business services

·         Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation laws and accounting principles

·         Experience working with individual, business, trust, company and SMSF clients will be highly regarded

·         Confidence using accounting software and practice technologies, with experience in Xero, MYOB, Class, BGL or similar systems viewed favourably

·         Strong attention to detail, analytical ability and problem-solving skills

·         A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage deadlines

·         Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment

·         Excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to client service
