About The Role
We're looking for a payroll operations specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our payroll platform, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.
As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to build strong operational coverage, country-specific payroll expertise, and scalable processes across key markets.
This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is an important hire for the team and will support payroll execution across the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region. The role will manage defined payroll workflows and sub-processes, support statutory payment and filing operations, communicate with internal stakeholders and government agencies where needed, and partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and cross-functional teams to improve payroll quality and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can independently manage their workload, resolve moderately complex payroll and compliance issues with minimal supervision, and help strengthen the processes that support a reliable customer and product experience.
What You Will Do
Manage assigned payroll workflows across Australia and New Zealand, supporting payday filing, STP, year-end finalisation, statutory submissions, KiwiSaver, FBT, Payroll Tax, and other country-specific processes in line with ATO and IRD requirements. Investigate and resolve customer, tax, filing, and compliance issues; escalate more complex matters with clear context, evidence, and recommended next steps. Maintain clear communication with customers, government agencies, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional partners, ensuring timely updates and follow-through on open cases. Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Payroll Operations teammates to identify product compliance issues, tooling gaps, calculation concerns, and workflow friction. Complete Jira, case work, audits, reconciliations, and documentation with accurate evidence so issues can be understood, tracked, and resolved efficiently. Build and maintain practical SOPs for evolving payroll processes, helping the broader team operate consistently as requirements change. Support the scaling of ANZ payroll operations by using day-to-day operational insights to improve accuracy, consistency, customer experience, and process efficiency.
What You Will Need
2–5 years of strong payroll operations experience, with exposure to New Zealand and ideally Australia, plus working knowledge of ANZ payroll compliance, statutory payments, filing, pensions and agency interactions. Experience managing payroll cases, customer queries, operational tickets, reconciliations, audits, or recurring payroll deadlines with minimal follow-up. Ability to resolve moderately complex payroll issues, identify root causes, and escalate when deeper subject-matter or cross-functional support is needed. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to keep customers, partners, and internal stakeholders informed on status, context, and next steps. High attention to detail and a commitment to quality in time-sensitive payroll environments, including accurate documentation and practical SOP maintenance. Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office for data analysis and workflow management; familiarity with Salesforce, Jira, and Confluence is a plus
