Gold Coast Trades College is looking for an energetic, relationship-driven High School Apprenticeships & VETiS Pathways Coordinator to join our growing team.This role is all about connecting high school students with real trade career opportunities — from VET in Schools (VETiS), pre-apprenticeship and trade pathway programs through to school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.You’ll work closely with schools, students, parents, employers, apprenticeship providers and industry partners to help young people understand their options, get exposure to industry and take their first step into a trade.If you love getting out from behind a desk, building relationships and helping young people find their direction, we’d love to hear from you.
About the RoleNo two days will look the same.You could be:Visiting high schools and meeting with Careers Advisors, VET Coordinators and studentsPromoting GCTC’s trade pathway and VETiS programsSpeaking with students and parents about apprenticeship and training optionsConnecting school students with employers offering school-based apprenticeshipsBuilding relationships with construction, automotive, electrical and plumbing employersCoordinating school information sessions, expos, Try-a-Trade activities and industry eventsSupporting students transitioning from school into apprenticeships or further trainingFollowing up enquiries and helping students move from “I’m interested in a trade” to actually getting startedWorking closely with GCTC trainers, student services and industry teamsDeveloping strong partnerships with schools across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Ipswich regionsTracking student enquiries, referrals, enrolments and apprenticeship outcomesRepresenting Gold Coast Trades College at school and industry events
Who We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who is confident, approachable and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed.You may already have experience in:VET in Schools / VETiSSchool-based apprenticeships and traineeshipsApprenticeship servicesCareers or pathwaysEmployment servicesYouth engagementBusiness developmentRegistered Training OrganisationsConstruction or trade industry engagementSchool or education partnershipsYou don’t necessarily need to come from a traditional education background.What matters most is your ability to connect with people, build trust and turn conversations into opportunities for students.You’ll ideally bring:Excellent communication and relationship-building skillsConfidence presenting to students, parents, schools and employersStrong organisation and follow-up skillsA good understanding of apprenticeships, traineeships or vocational educationThe ability to work independently and manage a busy territoryA positive, proactive attitudeConfidence networking and developing new relationshipsA genuine interest in the construction and trade industriesCurrent driver licence and willingness to travel between schools and industry partnersExperience working with Queensland schools, VET pathways, SBATs or apprenticeship programs would be highly regarded.
