About the role
About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for motivated and experienced Technical Officer to join the Central Operational Services (COS)- Engineering Delivery team and provide high-quality technical services within the designated area of responsibility to strengthen and enhance education and research support outcomes.
Working collaboratively with academic, teaching, research, and technical staff, the Technical Officer will provide hands-on support for practical classes, demonstrations, teaching activities, and research programs. The role will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, facilities, and work areas to ensure they are safe, operational, and fit for purpose, while providing technical advice and guidance to academic staff, teaching staff, researchers, and other facility users.
The Technical Officer will involve sourcing, preparing, and maintaining consumables, materials, and other resources required to support teaching and research activities, as well as contributing to the development and maintenance of safety, operational, and procedural documentation.
The ideal candidate will have a broad background/knowledge and hands-on experience in electronics, electrical engineering, and communications, as well as demonstrated ability to support both teaching and research activities in laboratory environment.
This is an onsite position, with the successful candidate required to work on campus daily to support the operational, teaching, and research activities of the work area.
