Bakery Assistant

We are looking for a highly personable and enthusiastic bakery assistant to support the daily operations of the bakery services, ensuring that responsibilities are completed on time and products are presented to a high standard, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

The Mornington Shire Council is a Local Government Authority providing range of services to the twenty-three islands of the Wellesley Group located 125kms north-west of Burketown, 200kms west of Karumba and 444kms from Mount Isa, in the southern section of the Gulf of Carpentaria, residing within the State of Queensland. The island is 2.5 hours flight from Cairns.

Responsibilities:

Your duties will include, managing baked goods and ingredient inventories, and taking control of the daily cleanup procedures at the bakery. You are also be required to monitor ingredient expiry dates.

• Assist the Bakery Manager in preparing and presenting baked goods

• Assist in the distribution of goods

• Inventory management, ordering and receiving of supplies

• Provide exceptional customer services, responding queries and resolving issues

• Providing support to the Tavern team as required

• Maintaining a high standard of presentation and cleanliness in the hospitality area.

• Any other duties as requested by the manager.

Bakery Assistant Requirements:

• Good communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Full Queensland drivers’ licence

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and ability to confidently communicate with a wide range of people

• Computer literate with the ability to utilise a range of programs

• Great organisational and problem-solving skills

• Previous experience in bakery / hospitality is desirable but not essential

• Understanding of food safety practices

• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
