About the role
Muirfield High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school located in Sydney’s north-western suburbs, with an enrolment of 829 students. Our diverse community includes students from a range of cultural backgrounds, supported by targeted programs for EAL/D learners and students requiring disability adjustments, including an intensive learning support-mental health unit.
The school offers excellent facilities, including recently refurbished support unit classrooms, a science laboratory, STEM lab, gymnasium, covered basketball courts, full-sized ovals, a school farm, and dedicated dance and drama studios. The Support Unit currently caters for 21 students across three intensive learning support mental health classes and is planned to expand in 2027 to include an additional multi-categorical class.
Muirfield is well known for its strong science, sports, creative, and performing arts programs, with students regularly achieving regional and state representation. There is an accelerated science program in Stage 5. We maintain collaborative partnerships with local primary schools, focusing on pedagogy and student wellbeing.
Our highly skilled and enthusiastic staff are committed to collaborative practice and work closely with parents and community partners to deliver quality teaching and learning. We are dedicated to preparing every student for further education, training, and employment.
Specific Selection CriteriaApproval to teach special education and /or experience teaching students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and complex behaviour and emotional needs.
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to build positive, collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents/carers and external providers.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum, develop, implement, assess, monitor and evaluate plans to meet the academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
