About the role

Oracle Industries Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Electrician / Workshop Electrician to join our team in Mackay, QLD 4740. This is a full-time position based on-site at our workshop facilities. As a Workshop Electrician, you will play a crucial role in assessing, overhauling, installing and manufacturing electrical mining equipment. Your technical expertise will directly contribute to ensuring our equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting the broader objectives of our organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair mining electrical systems and equipment within the workshop environment

• Diagnose electrical faults and troubleshoot complex electrical problems using appropriate testing equipment

• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical mining machinery and systems

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, and technical documentation

• Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations

• Inspect electrical installations and equipment to identify potential hazards or defects

• Maintain detailed records of work undertaken, parts used, and maintenance schedules

• Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as required

• Liaise with other tradespeople and workshop staff to coordinate maintenance activities

• Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment and properly store tools and materials

What we're looking for

• A recognised electrical qualification or apprenticeship completion (Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent)

• Current electrical license or registration as required by Queensland regulations

• Proven experience working as an electrician

• Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, circuit testers, and insulation testers

• Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and workplace health and safety requirements

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

• Physical fitness and ability to work in various workshop conditions

• Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training

• Experience with specific equipment or systems used within your industry (desirable)
