We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Senior Engineering Manager to join our team, supporting the Destroyer Combat System Support Agent (DCSSA) program.

Reporting to the DCSSA Program Director, you will provide hands-on leadership to a high-performing engineering team responsible for the design, development and integration of complex systems into the Royal Australian Navy’s most capable naval asset: the Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyers.

This is a pivotal leadership role, requiring strong technical depth, strategic thinking and the ability to collaborate across a multi-stakeholder enterprise. You will work closely with the DCSSA Chief Engineer and the Maritime Systems Technical Director to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes that meet customer and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, inspire and develop a team of engineers delivering complex systems engineering outcomesManage engineering activities across scope, schedule, budget, risks and opportunitiesEnsure the quality, integrity and compliance of engineering products and servicesProvide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship across the teamEngage effectively with Defence customers and key stakeholders to achieve program objectivesCollaborate across the Destroyer Enterprise to ensure alignment and integration of engineering efforts

About You

You are an experienced engineering leader with a track record of delivering complex Defence programs and building high-performing teams.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Naval Architecture or equivalent)Extensive experience (15+ years) within the Defence industryDemonstrated success leading and managing engineering teams in complex environmentsStrong understanding of engineering governance, standards and lifecycle deliveryCurrent or ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance

Desirable

Experience working with CASG, NSSG or Defence prime contractorsProfessional accreditation such as CPEng, RPEQ, INCOSE CSEP or equivalent
