Partner with senior leaders including the Chief Medical Officer and GM Health Services, giving you the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives and elevate the impact of the medical function across the business.
Access ongoing professional development, leadership growth opportunities, and the chance to champion innovative technologies, including AI, to improve clinical quality and operational effectiveness.
At TAL, we’re supported to live our best lives. With flexible and blended working options, discounted insurance, and wellbeing initiatives, we know we’re valued.

Collaborating in person strengthens our social bonds and powers better problem-solving. Together, we face challenges and grow stronger. We connect to include, celebrate, reward, and recognise each other.
As Head of Medical Services, you'll provide dedicated clinical leadership to TAL's Medical Officer team, shaping the standards, quality and future of insurance medicine across the organisation. Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer and broader Health Services leadership team, you'll help ensure medical expertise is applied in ways that support better customer outcomes, informed business decisions and continuous improvement. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by leading a team of medical professionals at the intersection of clinical practice, innovation and purpose.
In this role you will:
Lead, coach and inspire a high-performing Medical Officer team to deliver exceptional clinical and business outcomes.
Drive operational excellence across claims and underwriting through effective service delivery and continuous improvement.
Set the benchmark for clinical quality, consistency and evidence-based decision making across the medical function.
Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance on complex and escalated medical cases.
Build organisational capability by developing insurance medicine expertise and professional growth pathways.
Harness data, insights and technology to enhance performance, innovation and customer outcomes.
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with substantial clinical experience and the ability to provide trusted medical leadership; current AHPRA registration is preferred.
Proven experience leading, coaching and developing teams in a specialist clinical or healthcare environment.
Strong clinical judgement, with an interest in applying medical expertise to complex assessment and decision-making environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility across clinical, operational and executive audiences.
A collaborative and people-focused leadership style that fosters development, wellbeing and high performance.
A forward-thinking approach to innovation, with curiosity about emerging technologies and new ways of improving outcomes for customers and teams.
