About the role
The Role
The EL1 Technical Training Lead (TTL) is a key leadership position within the Torpedo Maintenance Facility (TMF), responsible for leading the design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of the facility's technical training capability.
The role ensures TMF personnel maintain the knowledge, skills, competencies and maintenance authorities required to safely and effectively undertake weapons maintenance activities. The TTL develops and implements training strategies, manages learning resources, maintains training records and qualifications, and evaluates training effectiveness to support workforce capability and organisational readiness.
Working collaboratively across Engineering, Production, Quality, Safety and Management functions, the TTL drives a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The position plays a critical role in ensuring training outcomes align with operational requirements, regulatory obligations, maintenance practices and future workforce needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced training professional and leader to shape the technical capability of a highly specialised workforce, contribute to strategic workforce development, and influence the future training direction of the TMF.
About our Team
The Explosive Ordnance Maintenance Directorate (EOMD) is part of the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group within the Department of Defence. EOMD delivers specialist maintenance and sustainment support for torpedoes, missiles, Captive Air Training Missiles (CATMs) and other guided weapons systems across New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.
GWEO manages a complex portfolio of acquisition and sustainment programs that support Australian Defence Force capability, working closely with domestic and international industry partners. Our workforce includes APS employees and ADF personnel delivering outcomes across procurement, logistics, manufacturing, weapons maintenance and capability management.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
Mandatory Qualifications
This technical position requires the individual to have obtained Engineers Australia Stage 1 competency standard for Engineering Associate recognition (or ability to obtain status as an Engineering Associate within three months) or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.
