About the role
About ComAp
ComAp is a global leader in smart control solutions for power generation. Our controllers and energy management systems run everything from single generators to complex hybrid microgrids, and you will find them in hospitals, data centres, mine sites and isolated network power stations across Australia and the Pacific.
ComAp Pty Ltd is the Australian arm of a Czech-owned, family-run business operating in more than 100 countries. We are a close team that values open communication, personal growth and innovation, and we back our people to take ownership of the work they do.
About the role
Based in our Brisbane office, the Project Manager takes end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of control system projects. You will manage projects from charter through to handover, making sure they are delivered safely, on time, within scope and on budget, while keeping customers and internal stakeholders informed along the way.
This is a hands-on delivery role with real ownership. You will work closely with engineering, sales and site teams, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, and apply ComAp’s project management methodology across a diverse project portfolio.
What you will be doing
• Project setup: develop project charters, scope and objectives with all relevant stakeholders, confirming technical and financial feasibility.
• Planning and scheduling: build and maintain detailed project plans, ensure resource availability, and coordinate internal teams and third-party vendors.
• Delivery and control: manage changes to scope, schedule and cost through the formal variation process, and track performance using appropriate tools and systems.
• Risk management: identify, analyse and manage project risks, escalating early with practical solutions.
• Financial performance: manage project costs including labour and expenditure, and monitor results against plan.
• Customer relationships: build strong working relationships, manage expectations and respond promptly to queries and concerns.
• Safety leadership: make sure all project work complies with WHS legislation, Australian Standards and ComAp policy, including inductions, licences and SWMS/JSAs for site personnel.
• Documentation and review: maintain accurate project records, meet contractual obligations, run project reviews and share lessons learned.
• Team support: supervise and support graduates, contractors and tradespeople involved in your projects.
What you will bring
Essential
• Proven delivery: a demonstrated track record managing complex electrical, controls or power generation and distribution projects as a Project Manager.
• Technical background: experience in electrical contracting, power generation and distribution, automation or system integration.
• Qualifications: minimum Diploma in Project Management or equivalent, with three to five years in a project management role and at least eight years of overall industry experience.
• Standards knowledge: working familiarity with AS 3000, AS 3008, AS 3010 and AS 5033, and with AutoCAD drawings prepared to ISO standards.
• Tools: confident with MS Project or similar scheduling and cost management tools, plus the Microsoft Office suite.
• Communication: strong client-facing and written communication skills, with the ability to pitch complex information to the right audience.
• Organisation: attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities at once.
• Eligibility: Australian residency with unrestricted working rights, and a current driver’s licence.
• Flexibility: willingness to work outside normal hours when a project requires it, and to visit work sites and customer premises in Australia and occasionally overseas.
Desirable
• Industry exposure: experience with generator control systems, hybrid energy or critical power sites such as hospitals, data centres or remote power stations.
• Formal certification: PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification.
Why ComAp
• Interesting work: a genuinely varied project portfolio across renewables, hybrid energy, critical power and traditional generation.
• Global backing: the support of a global technology business with the autonomy and pace of a small Australian team.
• Growth: ongoing training and development, including access to ComAp’s global product and technical training.
• Culture: a supportive team built on personal growth, open communication and innovation.
• Package: competitive salary and benefits, reviewed in line with experience.
