An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced advocate for Safety to join the Infrastructure team as a Safety Advisor.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will partner with leaders, employees and Health and Safety Representatives to strengthen safety performance, manage risk and support compliance with Victorian occupational health and electrical safety legislation.

This is a hands-on role requiring regular field engagement across the network. You will provide trusted advice, coach stakeholders and help embed a proactive and sustainable safety culture.

What you'll be doing

• Partnering with operational leaders, employees and Health and Safety Representatives to provide practical OHS advice and resolve safety matters.

• Completing field-based assurance activities, including pre-start validations, workplace inspections, critical risk inspections and safety interactions.

• Managing safety incidents, completing high-quality investigations and recommending effective corrective actions.

• Supporting risk reviews, audits, Safety Management System requirements and Safety Improvement Plan initiatives.

• Analysing safety trends and working collaboratively across the business to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.

• Leading and/or supporting in safety activities such as (but not limited to) toolbox talks, Health and Safety Committee meetings safety meetings.

About you:

You are a practical and collaborative safety professional who is comfortable working in the field and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. You can balance competing priorities, respond effectively to emerging issues and influence others through credible advice and strong relationships.

You will bring:

• A Certificate IV, tertiary qualification or equivalent in Workplace Health and Safety or a related discipline.

• Frontline safety experience in a high-risk operational environment, supported by strong risk assessment and incident investigation capability.

• Working knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and the Victorian Electrical Safety Act.

• Experience in stakeholder consultation, issue resolution, chemical management and mobile plant safety.

• Lead Auditor and Incident Cause Analysis Method training, along with intermediate Microsoft Office 365 skills.

Knowledge of Rail Safety National Law, experience within a rail environment and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
