Medical Receptionist

Mount Cotton Medical Centre is a practice that prides itself on offering exceptional healthcare in a professional and family friendly environment.  We are looking for an experienced, professional and friendly Casual Medical Receptionist to join our supportive team. This is a position that involves casual hours and must also be able to cover for staff on annual leave / sick leave at short notice. 

Responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice policies and procedures, the Receptionist will:

• Greet patients and visitors

• Demonstrate Customer service skills.

• Liaise with GPs, other health professionals and staff

• Managing telephone calls and enquiries

• Booking appointments and managing multiple diaries

• Fax, scan, email and file documents

• Monitor stationery and place orders as required or directed

• Handle incoming and outgoing mail

• Handle cash, EFTPOS and other payments

• Manage Medicare and private billings

• Ensure the practice is always clean, tidy and accessible

• Participate in the practice risk management and quality improvement processes

• Maintain patient and practice confidentiality

• Contribute to the development of a culture consistent with the values of the practice.

Essential 

The Medical Receptionist will have:

• Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative position 

• previous experience with our practice software: Best Practice

• A friendly, professional, and empathetic demeanor

• the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

• strong computer literacy

• excellent communication skills, written and verbal 

• the ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team environment 

• CPR training undertaken within the past three years or willingness to participate in training

• work rights in Australia or be eligible for such.

• At least 1 year experience working in a Medical Centre

Desirable 

The Medical Receptionist will have: 

• working knowledge of Windows-based software systems (e.g. Word and Excel) 

• an understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule

• an understanding of medical terminology, medical and allied health professional organisations and relevant stakeholders

• an understanding or experience in general practice accreditation and standards.

This position is a Level 3 position under the Health Professionals and Support Staff Award.  Opportunity to work over multiple sites.
