Junior Estimator

About the role

Due to an increased project pipeline, we are seeking a junior Estimator to join our pre-construction team to work directly alongside our Senior Estimator on a variety of commercial projects, including Education, Rail, Industrial, State and Local Government, and Social/Boarding Housing. You will take ownership of your development, learn the functions of various estimating roles, and contribute productively to day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects using estimating software and industry-standard tools

• Analysing project drawings, specifications and tender documents to identify scope and requirements

• Researching and sourcing material and labour costs from suppliers and subcontractors

• Assisting in the compilation of tender submissions and bid documentation

• Maintaining accurate records and databases of historical cost data and estimating information

• Supporting the Senior Estimator team with project analysis and feasibility assessments

• Learning and applying company estimating procedures and methodologies

About you

• Currently completing a degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering or a related discipline (ideally 3rd year)

• Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail with the ability to work accurately with complex data

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

• A genuine interest in the construction industry and a commitment to developing estimating expertise

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Familiarity with estimating software or building information modelling (BIM) is desirable
