About the role
SCOTS PGC College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our Learning Support team on a contract basis until the end of 2026. This rewarding role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting their learning, wellbeing and engagement in the classroom. Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff, you will help create an inclusive and positive learning environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their potential. This position plays an important role in the College's commitment to delivering high-quality, student-centred education and providing individualised support to meet diverse learning needs.

Monday to Friday
6.5 hours per day (32.5 hours per week)

What you'll be doing
Providing direct support to students in the classroom, including assisting with learning activities and reinforcing teaching objectives
Supporting students with special needs or additional learning requirements through individualised strategies and accommodations
Helping with classroom management and maintaining a positive, safe and organised learning environment
Assisting with preparation of educational materials, resources and learning aids
Supporting students with personal care needs as required and in accordance with college policies
Encouraging student participation and engagement in classroom and extracurricular activities
Communicating regularly with teachers and parents regarding student progress and any concerns
Contributing to the implementation of individual education plans and support strategies
Supporting the supervision of students during transitions, breaks and other non-classroom times
Maintaining accurate records and documentation of student progress and behaviour as requested.
What we're looking for
A genuine passion for supporting young people and contributing to their educational development
Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (preferred but not essential)
Understanding of diverse learning needs and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff and families
Patience, empathy and a positive attitude towards supporting students with additional needs
Basic literacy and numeracy skills to support student learning
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teaching staff
A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional boundaries
Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) and a current Police Check
Flexibility and reliability with attendance and punctuality.
