Business Development Manager - FMCG Remote

About the opportunity

As part of our continued growth in the Industrial category, an exciting opportunity exists for a commercially astute and results-driven Business Development Manager to join the Detpak Industrial team.

Based in either Sydney or Brisbane, this customer-facing role will be responsible for driving new business growth, expanding existing customer relationships, and delivering targeted sales and profit outcomes across Queensland and NSW business. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs, develop practical solutions, and act as a key conduit between Detpak Industrial and the market.

This includes managing the customer experience across pricing, orders, new product onboarding, administration, record keeping and market intelligence.

The Industrial category is a significant growth area for Detpak, and this role will suit someone who enjoys building strong relationships, identifying opportunities, understanding technical customer requirements and working collaboratively to bring innovative packaging solutions to market.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Manage and grow business across Queensland and selected NSW customers, delivering targeted sales, margin and profit outcomes.
• Develop, qualify and convert new business opportunities across relevant customers, prospects and market segments.
• Expand existing customer relationships through increased product penetration, range growth and value-added solutions.
• Develop and execute strategic sales activity to increase the uptake of Detpak Industrial products and services.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with customers by understanding their operations, requirements and commercial priorities.
• Provide market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing, product innovation, costing and portfolio opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with Marketing, Innovation, Launchpad, Supply Chain and broader Detmold teams to identify customer-led product development opportunities.
• Manage key customer touchpoints professionally, including pricing, orders, onboarding, records and customer administration.

About you

You are a proactive, commercially minded sales professional who enjoys identifying opportunities, solving customer problems and delivering results. You will bring strong relationship-building skills, sound business judgement and the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring:

Essential:

• Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, technical sales or an industrial sales environment.
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, production lines or customer applications relevant to industrial packaging.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and the ability to understand customer requirements.
• Proven experience executing sales plans, including new business development, cold calling and account management.
• A strong customer focus and commitment to delivering value and service excellence.
• High energy, resilience, personal drive and accountability for results.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a cohesive, high-performing team.
• A current, unrestricted driver’s licence, with regular travel required.

Desirable:

• Preferred tertiary qualification in a technical, Engineering, Marketing, or business related field.
• Proactive, willing to use initiative and to be accountable for own activity and results, in an environment of competing demands.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams to support product innovation or customer-led product development.
