Part-time (80%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years.
Base salary will be in the range $120,317 to $134,893 + 17% super (HEW Level 8).
This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates only, as a genuine occupational requirement, due to its focus on culturally safe Indigenous health research and community engagement.
Based in Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
The University of Queensland (UQ) acknowledges the Traditional Owners and their custodianship of the lands on which UQ operates. We pay our respects to their Ancestors and their descendants, who continue cultural and spiritual connections to Country. We recognise their valuable contributions to Australian and global society.
Create meaningful change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health through a purposeful clinical research role with the UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. Working within a multidisciplinary, community-led program focused on reducing sexually transmissible infections, you will apply your clinical knowledge, research expertise and collaborative approach to deliver culturally safe, high-quality research.
Drawing on your understanding of Good Clinical Practice, research ethics, governance requirements and relevant privacy and confidentiality obligations, you will help ensure the integrity and impact of research activities. Success in this role will rely on your ability to build respectful relationships, communicate effectively in sensitive and complex environments, and manage competing priorities with strong organisational and administrative capability.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide clinically informed advice and research support to strengthen service delivery, data quality and research outcomes within a multidisciplinary health program.
Coordinate local study activities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including site establishment, ethics, research governance, authorisations and reporting requirements.
Build trusted partnerships with community-controlled health organisations, government agencies, health services, clinicians, research participants and university stakeholders.
Apply sound judgement and initiative to identify emerging issues, manage competing priorities and support ethical, culturally safe and effective research delivery.
