Fibre Technicians

Stowe Australia, one of Australia’s largest Electrical & Communications Contractors, is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Fibre Technicians to support a range of projects across Melbourne, Adelaide and the Northern Territory.

These roles will be employed from our Melbourne office and will involve travel to project locations as required. All travel and living away from home costs will be covered by Stowe. Works will generally be undertaken on a 3-week rotational basis.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out fibre optic splicing and jointing works
• Connector assembly and fibre termination, including polishing and end face finishing
• Testing and fault finding of fibre optic networks
• Fibre preparation and cable handling
• Cable hauling over long distances
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship, quality and safety on site
• Work effectively across a range of project environments and remote locations
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, project teams and clients

Preferred qualifications and skills:

Proven capability in:

• Fibre Splicing
• Connector assembly
• Termination including connector polishing
• End face finishing
• Testing
• Preparation
• Cable hauling over long distances
• Experience working on construction, communications or infrastructure projects
• Ability to work away from home on a rostered basis
• Strong commitment to safety and quality
• Current White Card / Construction Induction
• Current Driver’s Licence
• ACMA Open Cabling Registration or relevant telecommunications qualifications will be highly regarded

It would also be highly desirable to have:

Cert III in Telecommunications or equivalent

Cert III Electrical / A Grade Electrical Licence

Experience working in remote or regional locations

Experience on major communications, defence, utilities or infrastructure projects

First Aid qualifications

EWP, Working at Heights or other relevant site tickets
