About the role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable HR Manager to take ownership of the HR function and support payroll operations across the business.
This is a pivotal stand-alone role, responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, policy implementation, and payroll coordination. You will act as the primary point of contact for HR matters and work closely with the Finance team to ensure payroll processes are accurate, compliant, and completed on time.
This opportunity would suit a confident HR professional who enjoys autonomy, takes ownership, and can balance hands-on operational work with strategic HR improvement initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage day-to-day HR operations across the business.
Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
Manage onboarding, offboarding, induction, and employee documentation.
Provide HR advice and support to management and employees on employment matters.
Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, workplace policies, industrial awards, and company procedures.
Support end-to-end payroll processes, including employee changes, leave, timesheets, payroll data, and payroll reporting.
Liaise with the Finance team regarding payroll, statutory deductions, superannuation, and reporting requirements.
Coordinate employee relations matters, performance management processes, promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments.
Support recruitment activities, including job advertising, candidate screening, interview coordination, and reference checks.
Plan and coordinate training, compliance programs, and professional development initiatives.
Lead employee engagement initiatives, including the Social Committee and company events.
Contribute to HR projects, process improvement, policy development, and broader business initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in HR, ideally with exposure to payroll.
Previous experience in the construction, property, or project-based industry will be highly regarded.
Proven ability to manage HR functions independently in a stand-alone or hands-on role.
Strong knowledge of Fair Work legislation, HR compliance, industrial awards, and workplace policies.
Experience with payroll systems, preferably Jobpac, Employment Hero, or ELMO.
Ability to interpret Awards or Enterprise Agreements and apply them practically to payroll and HR processes.
Strong organisational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
High level of discretion, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Competitive salary package.
Autonomy and ownership in a key business role.
Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing organisation.
Exposure to both operational and strategic HR initiatives.
Collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
Career development opportunities within a dynamic property development and construction group.
