About the role
Help strengthen payroll compliance, controls and assurance across a large, complex organisation.
At Endeavour Foundation, we believe employment should be accessible and rewarding for everyone. We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Compliance Specialist to join our People Operations team and help ensure our payroll systems, processes and controls continue to meet legislative, award and organisational requirements.
This is an opportunity to use your payroll expertise beyond day-to-day processing—partnering with Payroll, Employee and Industrial Relations, People Systems and People Partnering to identify risks and opportunities, improve controls and deliver sustainable compliance outcomes.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of People Operations, you’ll act as a key connection between Payroll, People Systems and Industrial Relations, ensuring employment conditions and award interpretations are accurately reflected in our payroll system and processes.
You’ll establish quality assurance activities, conduct proactive compliance checks, identify payroll risks and opportunities, and support remediation where required. You’ll also contribute to payroll system improvements, including requirements gathering, testing and implementation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Establishing and maintaining a program of payroll compliance checks, control testing and quality audits.
Monitoring the accuracy, eligibility and timeliness of payments against awards, enterprise agreements, employment contracts, legislation and organisational policies.
Partnering with Industrial Relations and People teams to translate award interpretations and employment conditions into payroll system requirements and controls.
Identifying payroll risks, control gaps and potential leakage through analysis and root-cause investigation.
Supporting payroll reviews, audits and remediation activities, ensuring issues are resolved and outcomes communicated appropriately.
Developing and maintaining contemporary payroll policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
Working with People Systems and Payroll leaders to scope, test and implement system configuration and technology improvements.
Consolidating and reviewing payroll reporting and reconciliations to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
Providing practical advice to leaders and internal stakeholders on payroll requirements, compliance risks and organisational impacts.
Driving continuous improvement to streamline processes, strengthen controls and enhance service delivery.
What you can bring to the team
You’re an experienced payroll professional with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in compliance, systems and continuous improvement. You’re comfortable working across complex awards and enterprise agreements and can turn detailed legislative or payroll requirements into practical processes and controls.
You build trusted relationships across different functions, communicate complex information clearly and approach problems with sound judgement, discretion and attention to detail.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Significant end-to-end payroll experience within a large or complex organisation.
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, statutory obligations, awards and enterprise agreements.
Experience identifying payroll risks, conducting control testing and resolving or escalating compliance issues.
Demonstrated experience undertaking payroll audits, internal reviews or remediation activities.
Experience developing and implementing payroll policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
Experience defining, testing and implementing payroll system or configuration improvements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within required timeframes.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; Power BI capability will be highly regarded.
Experience with PeopleSoft or another complex enterprise payroll system will be highly regarded.
You will be required to undertake a Fit2Work National Criminal History Check and hold or be willing to obtain a Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Benefits and perks
At Endeavour Foundation, we offer a range of employee benefits, including:
Salary packaging benefits—package up to $15,900 of your annual salary tax-free.
Use up to an additional $2,650 of your pre-tax income for entertainment expenses, including meals and holiday accommodation.

Employee Assistance Program providing free and confidential counselling to employees and their families.
Discounts on corporate private health insurance, white goods and appliances.
Discounted family gym memberships through Fitness Passport.

If you’re an experienced payroll professional who enjoys solving complex problems, strengthening compliance and improving systems and processes, we’d love to hear from you.
