Salesforce & MuleSoft Practice
DXC's Salesforce and MuleSoft practice delivers end-to-end CRM and integration solutions, helping organisations modernise customer engagement and connect complex enterprise systems. The practice provides advisory, architecture, implementation, integration, and managed services across the Salesforce ecosystem, leveraging MuleSoft's API-led connectivity to enable scalable digital transformation and seamless business processes.

As the Salesforce Functional Capability Lead, you will be responsible for leading our Salesforce Functional capability while remaining hands-on in the delivery of complex customer engagements. This is a leadership role that combines solution architecture, functional consulting, people leadership and capability development.

You will lead a team of Salesforce Functional Consultants and Solution Architects, ensuring the successful delivery of customer outcomes while building a high performing, innovative and commercially successful practice. As a senior functional leader, you will remain billable on customer engagements where required, providing solution architecture, functional leadership and strategic guidance across Salesforce implementations and transformation programmes.

A key focus of this role is driving innovation within the practice by embracing emerging technologies including AI, to improve solution design, delivery, documentation, knowledge sharing and team capability. You will act as an AI Ambassador within the practice and broader organisation, actively promoting the responsible and effective use of AI across all aspects of delivery, design and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Capability Leadership

• Lead and grow the Salesforce Functional capability, establishing delivery standards, methodologies and best practices.
• Build a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, recruitment and career development.
• Manage team utilisation, workforce planning and resource allocation across customer engagements.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Drive capability development across Salesforce products, industry knowledge and emerging technologies.
• Champion AI literacy across the team, ensuring all consultants are equipped and confident in using AI tools to enhance their daily work, from requirements gathering to solution documentation.
• Embed AI adoption into team development plans, setting expectations that AI is a core skill for all functional consultants.

Solution Architecture & Delivery

• Lead the functional architecture and solution design for complex Salesforce implementations.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, user-centric Salesforce solutions aligned to customer objectives.
• Provide functional leadership across delivery teams and act as the senior escalation point for solution design decisions.
• Remain hands-on and billable on customer engagements, leading workshops, solution design, backlog definition and governance.
• Ensure solutions align with Salesforce best practices while balancing customer outcomes, scalability and maintainability.
• Actively use AI tools within your own delivery work to model best practice and demonstrate the value of AI-assisted solution design, documentation and decision-making.
• Incorporate AI capabilities (such as Salesforce Einstein, Agentforce and generative AI) into solution designs where they deliver measurable customer value.

Innovation & AI Ambassador

• Champion the adoption of AI across the practice to enhance delivery quality, efficiency and customer outcomes.
• Act as the primary AI Ambassador for the Salesforce Functional practice, promoting AI adoption internally and externally with conviction and credibility.
• Identify opportunities to leverage Salesforce AI capabilities and emerging technologies within solution design.
• Drive the use of AI-assisted tools to improve documentation, solution design, knowledge management and delivery processes.
• Establish and share AI use cases, success stories and reusable prompts/templates that accelerate AI adoption across the team.
• Actively promote AI within customer deliverables, ensuring AI-driven insights, automation and intelligence are considered in every solution design.
• Encourage experimentation, innovation and continuous learning across the team.
• Evaluate new Salesforce releases and emerging technologies to ensure the practice remains at the forefront of innovation.
• Contribute to the broader organisational AI community, sharing learnings, presenting at internal forums and influencing AI strategy beyond the immediate practice.

Customer & Presales

• Partner with sales teams to develop new business opportunities and grow existing customer relationships.
• Lead discovery workshops, executive discussions and solution demonstrations.
• Develop solution approaches, estimates, proposals and Statements of Work.
• Support RFP and tender responses.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing strategic guidance on Salesforce capability and roadmap planning.
• Proactively introduce AI-powered solutions and use cases into customer conversations, positioning the practice as a leader in AI-enabled Salesforce delivery.

Delivery Leadership

• Provide functional governance across Salesforce delivery engagements.
• Support project teams to manage risks, dependencies and solution quality.
• Collaborate with technical architects, developers and project managers to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Promote consistent delivery approaches and reusable assets across the practice.
• Ensure AI tools are embedded into delivery workflows, from automated documentation generation to AI-assisted testing and quality assurance.

Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience delivering Salesforce solutions as a Senior Functional Consultant, Functional Architect or Solution Architect.
• Deep knowledge of Salesforce platform capabilities, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Experience Cloud, with broader Salesforce ecosystem experience highly regarded.
• Proven ability to lead business process design, requirements gathering, solution architecture and stakeholder workshops.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce implementation methodologies and governance.
• Experience leading and developing consulting teams within a professional services environment.
• Experience managing team utilisation, resourcing and capability planning.
• Commercial experience supporting presales, estimating, solution shaping and customer presentations.
• Passion for innovation, with experience adopting AI and automation to improve delivery, collaboration and customer outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g., generative AI, Salesforce Einstein, Agentforce, AI-assisted development tools) within professional delivery environments.
• A genuine enthusiasm for AI and a track record of promoting technology adoption within teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
