• Location: Ideally Sydney-based, however outstanding candidates from other Australian locations will be considered.
• On-site Requirement: 2-3 days per week in the office.
• Why On-site? This role partners closely with business and technology stakeholders, architects, engineers, and delivery teams to design and deliver enterprise-scale workflow solutions. Regular collaboration and solution workshops make in-person engagement highly valuable.

What's the role?

You'll be joining Operations Technology as a Lead Software Engineer responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale workflow solutions on the Appian platform. You will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of our workflow capability while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to business and technology objectives.

As a technical leader, you'll drive the architecture and delivery of complex workflow applications, providing guidance to development teams and ensuring best practices are embedded across the software development lifecycle. You'll be responsible for designing solutions that integrate seamlessly with both legacy and cloud-based platforms while balancing business needs, technical considerations, and enterprise standards.

Working across a fast-paced delivery environment, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across business and technology teams, supporting successful delivery through both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

What do I need?

• 7+ years' experience as a Software Engineer, with strong experience delivering enterprise technology solutions.
• 3-5+ years of hands-on Appian experience at a Lead Engineer or Technical Lead level.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale workflow applications, ideally using Appian.
• Strong background in solution design, architecture, and data modelling.
• Experience leading the design and development of complex workflow and business process solutions.
• Strong integration experience across legacy and cloud-based platforms.
• Demonstrated experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Proven ability to deliver solutions using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving capability and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.

• Financial services or banking experience.
• Appian Senior Developer Certification.
• Appian Lead Developer Certification.
• Experience working within large, complex enterprise organisations.
• Previous experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineering teams.
