Chief Operations Officer

Total potential earnings: $137,000 – $144,000 (Salary + Allowances + Remote Travel Allowance) plus many additional benefits including:

• Program Leave: For each 6-weeks of continuous service cycle, entitled to 1 weeks paid leave (in addition to other leave entitlements
• Accommodation: You will be provided with fully furnished staff accommodation, and we subsidise the utility fees, resulting in a comfortable and cost-effective living arrangement (a nominal $30 per bedroom per fortnight)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Chief Operations Officer (COO), responsible for the day-to-day operations of Tullawon Health Service. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO is second in command and responsible for translating strategic direction into effective operational delivery.

The COO provides leadership and oversight across organisational operations, workforce performance, funding and contractual obligations, financial management, quality, risk and compliance. The role supports Executive Managers to effectively manage their teams, programs and resources while ensuring organisational priorities, service outcomes and reporting requirements are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day to day operations of Tullawon Health Service.
• Support and oversee Executive Managers and organisational performance.
• Drive implementation of strategic and operational priorities.
• Oversee funding agreements, contracts, KPIs and reporting requirements.
• Monitor budgets, expenditure and financial performance.
• Lead quality, compliance, accreditation, risk and WHS requirements.
• Strengthen workforce performance, systems and operational processes.
• Identify and resolve operational issues across the organisation.
• Maintain strong relationships with key partners, stakeholders and funding bodies.
• Support the CEO and Board through effective operational reporting and advice.

Eligibility

• Must be over 18 years of age
• Must pass a National Police Record Check throughout the period of employment
• Must pass and hold a Working with Children Check throughout the period of employment
• Must hold a current Drivers Licence (manual)
• Must pass safety screening checks as required based on the position and / or as requested by the funding body
• Must hold valid Australian working rights (citizenship, residency, or current working visa)
• All positions are subject to funding
• Ability to undertake commercial travel with overnight stays
• All positions are subject to an initial six (6) months probationary period
• Other terms and conditions are in line with the relevant industrial instrument and internal policies

Qualifications and experience

• Relevant qualification or equivalent senior management experience
• Demonstrated experience in senior management or executive leadership
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Experience in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health
• Experience in budgeting, funding agreements and financial oversight
• Strong understanding of governance, compliance, risk and quality improvement
• Ability to interpret legislation, policies, contracts and accreditation requirements
• Strong written, verbal and stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve operational issues
• Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a remote Aboriginal community
