Intermediate Tax | Business Services Accountant

We are a progressive accounting practice located in the south east suburb of Mentone, in search of a talented and proactive accountant with a minimum of 4 years experience in a similar fast paced environment.

Your opportunity

Reporting directly to the partners of the firm, you will be trained to understand all areas of accounting and tax law whilst gaining invaluable experience through working on an extensive portfolio of clients across all industries. You will have the aptitude to learn quickly and apply your knowledge and skills across multiple contexts. Your drive and determination will be the key to your success.

You will be responsible for and involved with:

• Preparing financial statements and tax returns for all entities including companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals

• Preparing of BAS/IAS

• Preparing of various other statutory requirements (superannuation, payroll tax, Work Cover etc.)

• Liaising with clients regarding tax advice, bookkeeping matters and business support including assistance with software

• Liaising directly with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other Regulatory Bodies

• Tax Planning for a varied client base

• Establishment of various business structures

• ASIC compliance

About you

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum 4 years of experience working in a fast-paced Australian Business Accounting Practice

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce or similar

• Strong communication skills and an eye for detail

• An ability to work independently and under pressure

• An ability to prioritise work effectively

• Experience with a variety of accounting packages, including Xero and MYOB etc.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for financial analysis and reporting

• Permanent right to work in Australia (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa)

• Ability to obtain a current National Police Check due to access to confidential client information

Experience with Xero XPM would be highly regarded but not essential.
