About the role
Yumbah is proudly positioned as Australia’s leading aquaculture company. With operations across South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales, we sustainably farm abalone, oysters, mussels and kingfish for both domestic and international markets, and supply oyster spat to the South Australian oyster industry. Driven by our core values of integrity, daring and teamwork, we are committed to supporting our people and delivering a sustainable source of premium seafood protein to our customers.
About the Role
The Production & Supply Planner role is based in Adelaide and reports to the IBP Manager. The position is responsible for translating customer demand, inventory requirements, harvest availability and operational capacity into practical daily, weekly and rolling production schedules. The role owns the day-to-day planning and scheduling process, ensuring that production priorities are clear, materials and inventory are available, customer commitments are supported and operational constraints are identified early.
Working closely with the IBP Manager and multiple departments within the Yumbah Group, the Production & Supply Planner will maintain a stable and achievable production plan while responding appropriately to changes in demand, supply, labour, capacity and production performance. The role supports the broader Integrated Business Planning process by providing accurate short-term planning information, highlighting risks and opportunities and ensuring agreed plans are converted into disciplined operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
Create accurate daily, weekly and rolling production schedules that balance customer demand, inventory requirements, harvest availability, labour, materials and production capacity.
Set clear production priorities and timely release of production orders, with changes communicated promptly to all affected stakeholders.
Improve schedule adherence, production attainment and delivery performance through proactive planning and constraint management.
Run the weekly ISP meeting and report relevant data back to IBP Manager.
Early identification and escalation of supply, capacity, inventory and customer-service risks, supported by practical mitigation options.
Accurate planning data, production parameters and master data within Business Central and associated planning systems.
Reliable short-term planning inputs to support the IBP Manager's demand, supply, capacity and inventory planning processes.
Continuous improvement in planning disciplines, system use, reporting and cross-functional ways of working.
Knowledge/Experience
Demonstrated experience in production planning, supply planning, scheduling, materials planning or a closely related role within manufacturing, food processing, seafood, FMCG or another time-sensitive operational environment.
Practical understanding of production planning principles, including capacity planning, production sequencing, lead times, batch sizes, material availability, inventory coverage and schedule adherence.
Experience using ERP, MRP or advanced planning systems to create and maintain production orders and schedules; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is highly regarded.
Strong Microsoft Excel capability, including the ability to analyse data, reconcile information and create clear planning reports.
Experience working with inventory across multiple locations, third-party warehouses or external processors is desirable.
Ability to interpret sales orders, forecasts, inventory data, production performance and operational constraints and convert them into an executable plan.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with sound judgement and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, respond to changing circumstances and remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to coordinate and influence stakeholders across functions.
Experience in regulated food manufacturing, traceability, shelf-life management or export supply chains is desirable.
Qualifications
Essential:
Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline; or equivalent demonstrated industry experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable:
APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP or equivalent planning qualification.
Training or practical experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, MRP or production-planning systems.
Qualification or experience relevant to food manufacturing, seafood processing, quality systems or continuous improvement.
Why Yumbah?
An opportunity to join Australia’s leading aquaculture group.
A values-led business with a strong, supportive team culture.
Optimise cross-function processes at a time of significant supply chain integration and upgrade.
