About the Role:

Steel Diamond is looking for an intermediate estimator who has experience in SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) estimation, who is willing to take on bigger challenges and expand their knowledge regarding first principles of SMP estimation. This is a 40hr per week, full time position.

Answering directly to the Company Director and Lead Estimator, your duties will include:

Establishing and maintaining sound relationships with clients and suppliers.

Understanding scope of work requirements.

Reading and interpreting drawings.

Creation of MTOs from drawings.

Estimating material, labour, subcontract and duration of proposed tenders.

Preparing tender submission packages.

To be successful for this role, you will need to be team oriented, able to work in an open plan environment and interact well with others.  You will be self motivated and have excellent time keeping. Your ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision is imperative. With occasional brownfields work, the ability to scope work from a visual perspective is highly desirable. The ability to interact with the tradespeople and supervision on the shop floor will also be advantageous.

The successful applicant will have the following essential skills and attributes: 

Minimum 5 years experience  trade background in boiler-making / steel fabrication / piping.

Intermediate EXCEL and Office skills.

Sound computer literacy.

Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision.

Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
