The Security Services team manages protective security across the Parliamentary Precinct and Electorate Offices throughout Victoria. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Security Adviser to help deliver professional security services, provide expert security advice, manage incidents and risks, and contribute to the safety of Members of Parliament, staff and visitors.

About the role 

As a Security Adviser, you will manage a portfolio of Electorate Offices across Victoria and provide professional security advice to Members of Parliament and electorate staff. You will conduct security risk assessments, coordinate security improvements, support incident management, and contribute to security operations within Parliament House. The role provides a unique opportunity to work across both strategic and operational security activities in a complex and dynamic environment. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing a portfolio of Electorate Offices and providing tailored security advice and support. 
• Undertaking security risk assessments and developing practical risk treatment recommendations. 
• Supporting the implementation and maintenance of physical and electronic security controls. 
• Responding to security incidents and coordinating appropriate security outcomes. 
• Supporting security operations during parliamentary sittings and after-hours activities. 
• Providing security advice for events, demonstrations, protests and official functions. 
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call roster for incident and alarm response. 
• Delivering security awareness activities and guidance to parliamentary stakeholders. 
• Building strong relationships with Victoria Police, contractors, service providers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintaining security records, reports and compliance documentation.

About you

You are a security professional with strong risk management and stakeholder engagement skills. You are comfortable working autonomously, responding to operational issues, and providing practical advice in a sensitive and fast-paced environment. Experience in protective security operations, including security risk management, incident response and physical security.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct security risk assessments and provide practical security advice and recommendations.
• Experience supporting security operations and making sound decisions in dynamic or high-pressure environments.
• Knowledge of electronic security systems including CCTV, access control, duress alarms and related technologies.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a broad range of groups.
• The ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and produce accurate records and reports.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management or equivalent is highly desirable. 
• Certificate IV in Government Investigations and/or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are desirable. 
• Working knowledge of ISO 31000, the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), relevant security standards and legislation is desirable. 
• Current Victorian Driver License. 
• Ability to participate in rostered sitting duties and 24/7 on-call arrangements.
