We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on WHS Specialist to join a collaborative PEC team in a newly created, permanent full-time role. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this position centralises their WHS function to champion a positive safety and wellbeing culture across residential aged care and home care services.

As the primary WHS contact for 750 staff, your focus will be firmly on workforce safety. You will be instrumental in shifting their safety culture from "reactive" to "proactive" by acting as a true business partner to the management team.

Key Strategic Projects & Responsibilities

• System Implementation: Lead the "go-live" of the new WHS module within the Action HRM system scheduled for late 2026, transitioning us from manual to digital processes.
• Psychosocial Safety: Develop an education strategy for psychosocial safety - a critical priority for your first 90 days.
• Workers' Compensation: Collaborate with the internal Injury Management Specialist and external agents to manage claims and enhance return-to-work outcomes.
• Governance & Leadership: Revitalise, lead, and chair the internal WHS Committee, ensuring site-based representatives are effectively engaged.
• Risk Management: Conduct regular workplace audits, hazard and injury investigations, and maintain the incident register.
• Gap Analysis: Identify compliance and process gaps resulting from previously manual workflows in your first 90 days.

About You (The Ideal Candidate) We are looking for a practitioner with a "pedigree of credibility" who can effectively influence at all levels - from frontline staff to the Board - and isn't afraid to push back when needed.

Key Requirements:

• Experience: Demonstrated success in a WHS role within a multi-layered or high-compliance environment (Aged Care, Disability, or similar clinical settings are highly preferred).
• Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety or a related field are essential.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and standards.
• Bonus Skills: A background in ergonomics and/or a recognised qualification in Training/Assessment are highly desirable to assist with internal assessments and safety program rollouts.
• Position Requirements: You must have a current driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for travel across NSW/ACT (approx. once a fortnight). You must also hold an NDIS worker screening clearance and be fully vaccinated as per Health & Aged Care industry requirements.
