Disability Support Worker (Casual) (Port Pirie)

About the role

Enhance Living Option is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis in Port Pirie, South Australia. This role is fundamental to our mission of providing high-quality support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital part in our community services, directly impacting the wellbeing and quality of life of the people we support. This casual position offers flexibility whilst allowing you to make a meaningful difference in your community.

Key responsibilities

• Providing personal care assistance including showering, dressing, toileting and grooming support as required

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living and domestic tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning and laundry

• Supporting clients with community access and participation in social, recreational and educational activities

• Promoting client independence and encouraging participation in decision-making about their own care and support

• Maintaining accurate and timely records of support provided and any observations about client wellbeing

• Communicating effectively with clients, their families, carers and other support team members

• Adhering to duty of care obligations and reporting any concerns or safeguarding issues appropriately

• Following all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements related to disability support

• Maintaining confidentiality and treating clients with dignity and respect at all times

What we're looking for

• A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care

• Previous experience working in disability support, aged care, community services or a related field (desirable but not essential)

• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

• Physical fitness and capability to undertake manual tasks such as assisting clients with mobility

• A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport (desirable)

• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing client needs and preferences

• A current Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain one

• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification

• A non-judgmental attitude and respect for the diversity and individuality of clients

• Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work
